    Acton Brush Fire Stopped At 10 Acres

    An Acton brush fire broke out near the 14 Freeway Friday morning.

    UPDATE (1 p.m.) Forward progress on the Victoria Fire has been stopped at approximately 10 acres in size.

    UPDATE (12:10 p.m.) The No.3 lane of the southbound 14 Freeway has been closed at Ward Road due to the Victoria Fire in Acton, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) incident logs.

    UPDATE (12:03 p.m.) The Victoria Fire is approximately 5 acres in size and has been raised to a Second Alarm incident, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

    When a second-alarm response is requested, the following additional units are added: five more engines; four more camp crews; another dozer; an additional water tender; a heavy equipment superintendent who coordinates the two dozers; a fuel truck for the helicopters; the helitanker;, two more battalion chiefs; an assistant chief; and an emergency support unit (ESU).

    ESUs are equipped with medical supplies, IVs, cots and other supplies for crews fighting the fire. It is also a place where firefighters can go to cool off.

    Original Story: The brush fire , named the Victoria Fire, was reported at about 11:33 a.m. Friday near the 14 Freeway and Ward Road in Acton, according to initial reports from the Los Angeles County Fire Department .

    Smoke could be seen on wildfire alert cameras covering the area.

    The No.3 Lane of the southbound 14 Freeway was temporarily closed due to the incident, according to California Highway Patrol incident logs.
