Annual summer pool party makes a splash in Ashland
ASHLAND — Ashland’s Big Splash summer pool party made a comeback Friday afternoon as families made their way to Brookside Pool for a day of fun in the sun. The annual event began in 2019. Back then, Ashland Mayor Matt Miller billed the event as an antidote to the challenge of not having enough activities in Ashland.

It was Christmas in July for the Half Pint 5K
LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - Operation Half Pint moved their 5K race to downtown Lima and added a holiday theme. Around 200 people took part in their Christmas in July 5K. The Half Pint is a half-scale model of the M1A2 Abrams Battle Tank that is made in Lima. The miniature version is used in various parades and events around the area. Operation Half Pint is a group that aims to support the workers at Joint Systems Manufacturing Center, who produce the world's finest battle tank and in keeping with the Christmas theme, some of the proceeds will be helping a local organization around the holidays.
Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Thrift Shop adds Saturday hours
LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - The Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Thrift Shop is adding new Saturday hours to help with some back-to-school shopping. The store is now open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday for people to check out the wide range of items they have. The volunteers that run the shop say that the new hours will help those people who work at the same time as they are open during the week. They have a wide range of men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing for you to check out. They also have some boutique items on hand and household items to help college students furnish their first apartment. Plus, with football season just around the corner, the thrift store can help you gear up for gametime.
175 bicyclist take advantage of a great day to raise money for Rally Point Youth Center
LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - Around 175 bicycle riders took advantage of a great Saturday to raise money for a Lima youth ministry. The Rally Point River Ride Bicycle Tour gave people the chance to bike on the Ottawa River Walk and on local roads covering as little as 10 and 20 miles, up to the more adventurous 50 and 62.5-mile routes. The Rally Point Youth Center is a faith-based organization on the north side of Lima. The money raised from this yearly fundraiser helps the center have the resources to guide and mentor Lima teens from 11 to 19 years old.

LIMA — The Lima Chamber of Commerce met Friday morning for the Wake, Rattle & Roll event. Keynote speaker Robert Sielschott, CPA, CVA, Founder and President of Sielschott, Walsh, Keifer, Regula & Sherer, CPAS, Inc. gave his best tax planning tips for businesses in 2024. He discussed various topics such as critical expiring items, acquisition of business equipment, EV credit, SE tax, Ohio PTE, and BOI filing repeal.
