Adair County Fair Events for Saturday
(Adair Co) A free 4-H/FFA Breakfast will kick off the Adair County Fair events at 7:00 this morning. Shows today include the Dairy Goat Show and Cat Show at 8:00 a.m., Junior Feeder Calf Pen Show, Cow/Calf Pen at 8:30, Open Fun Jackpot Horse Show at 9:00, Breeding Heifer, Lead Cow/Calf, and Feeder Calf Shows at 9:30, and Baby Show at 10:00. The Pedal Pulls will be held at 11:30. The Junior &Senior Cowgirl Queen Contest is at 12:00 p.m. Market Beef, Beef Showmanship at 1:00. 4-H Communications Events at 1:30. Supreme Showman Contest at 4:00. Livestock Judging Contest at 5:00. Yard Games will take place from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Pie in the Face Fundraiser Winners will be announced at 7:30. And, the Demolition Derby begins at the Grandstand at 8:00 p.m.

(Adair Co) The Supreme Showman Contest and 4-H/FFA Horse Show begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Adair County Fair today. The Swine Show is at 8:30 a.m., Stuffed Pet Show at 11:00 a.m., Poultry Showmanship at 12:00 p.m., the Floral Hall will close at 1:00 p.m. for Open Class Judging, the Poultry Show is at 2:00 p.m., Ag Olympics at 4:45 p.m., Truck and Tractor Pull at 6:00 p.m., Clothing Event Style Show at 7:00 p.m., and Volleyball in the Horse Arena at 8:00 p.m.
Adair County Fair Begins Today
(Adair Co) The Adair County Fair kicks off today. The morning will consist of entering rabbits and weighing in swine, market beef, bucket/bottle calves, meat goats and sheep. Quilt Show entry will take place from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Dog Show is at 1:00 p.m. The Clover Kids Rabbit/Cavy Show is at 3:30 p.m., followed by the 4-H/FFA Rabbit/Cavy Show at 4:00. The Open Archery Tournament is from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Area Police Reports
On June 29, Atlantic Police investigated an accident near the intersection of north Chestnut and Iowa Avenue at 6:36 p.m. Hazel Clark of Calhoun, La. was riding a pit bike in the grass along the sidewalk of the Schildberg Recreation Area Campgrounds. Clark attempted to cross the sidewalk at which tim the rear tire caught the concrete and tossed Clark off the bike. Clark sustained a head injury and was transported to Cass Health.
Adair County arrest report - July 8, 2024
Miguel Pena-Mendez, 20, of West Des Moines, was taken into custody 3:23 a.m. June 30, on Interstate 80 on the charges of OWI, second offense and driving while license revoked. According to an Adair County report, at approximately 1:34 a.m. a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was reported driving recklessly on the interstate. Deputies located a vehicle matching the description and followed behind it. The Equinox sped up to over 90 mph in a 70 mph zone and was observed weaving within its lane.
Adair County Board of Supervisors Approve Resolution to Establish a Compensation Board
(Adair Co) The Adair County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution this morning that will establish a Compensation Board. Compensation Boards were dissolved by the state legislature, effective July 1st, empowering the Supervisors to determine the establishment of the board. Compensation Boards annually recommend wages for elected officials. The Adair County Board of Supervisors opted to keep a compensation board, rather than the board taking on those duties.
