Four Delicious Chicago Fried Shrimp Spots!
2021-07-08
One of our favorite places to visit is the southern coast of the United States. While down south, we always love to chow down on as much delicious golden fried shrimp as possible.
This summer, we have been on a mission to find the best fried shrimp in Chicago. We’ve made a list of some of our favorite spots so far, but let us know in the comments below where we should try next!
Snappy’s Shrimp
Snappy’s Shrimp certainly knows what they are doing not only with their jumbo-fried shrimp but with everything on their menu. Snappy’s is located in North Center and was our go-to spot for fried fish on Friday nights during Lent. This spot is passionate about serving the highest quality wild-caught jumbo shrimp straight from the Gulf, and they want to do it at an affordable price.
A half-pound of this jumbo shrimp will only cost you $8.75, and for an additional $2.50, you can make it a meal with fries and a drink. Snappy’s also fries up some delicious sea scallops and catfish. If you aren’t into seafood, don’t worry; Snappy’s also serves up some killer chicken fingers!
Snappy’s Shrimp is located at 1901 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60613
Calumet Fisheries
Serving up deliciously smoked and fried fish since 1948, Calumet Fisheries is a staple of Chicago’s southside. Calumet Fisheries is a family-owned and operated business that likes to keep it old school! They are strictly a takeout counter, and they are cash only. They’re probably best known for their smoked fish specialties, but they do know how to fry up some fish.
We visited earlier this summer and took our fish feast over to Calumet Park for a bit of a picnic. Their fried shrimp dinner was $12.39 and was extra crispy. We also ate their garlic and black pepper smoked salmon, and we can see why they are known for it. They’ve attracted high praise from luminaries such as Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain. Oh yeah, and this classic Chicago fish shack can be seen in Blues Brothers! You can’t get more Chicago than that!
Calumet Fisheries is located at 3259 E 95th St, Chicago, IL 60617
Parsons Chicken and Fish

Parsons Chicken and Fish puts a modern spin on a fried shrimp shack while paying tribute to those that have come before. There are four locations around the city, and we recently visited their Logan Square restaurant.
We ordered up a plate of jumbo gulf shrimp ($16) as well as some hot chicken nuggets and hush puppies. It was an absolute feast! They have amazing homemade sauces for all of your dipping needs. Parsons also has an extensive bar menu so that you can wash down your fried snacks with a tasty beverage. And their colossal patio is dog-friendly! So bring your pup with you on a beautiful summer evening and enjoy some drinks and delicious fried shrimp!
Parson’s is located at 2952 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60647
Goose Island Shrimp House
Goose Island SignLiam C./ Yelp
Goose Island Shrimp House is a Chicago classic and has been serving up deep-fried deliciousness since 1973. They serve up their tasty shrimp in classic brown paper bags, and a half-pound will only cost you 5.75. Make sure you get some of their hot sauce for your crispy shrimp! This classic shrimp shack is cash only, and there is no indoor seating, and they do not offer delivery.
Have you ever been out in the wee hours of the morning and find yourself craving fried shrimp? Goose Island Shrimp House has got you covered. They are open until 4 am during the week and 5 am on the weekends! Celebrities and neighborhood regulars alike all love this spot, and we can see why!
Goose Island Shrimp House is located at 1011 W Division St, Chicago, IL 60642
