The Maryland Department of the Environment in June rescinded an offer to settle for $130,000 Quantum Loophole’s environmental violations related to constructing fiber optic infrastructure, citing the “ongoing nature and severity of the violations,” according to a letter from the department.

The settlement offer was made in November to resolve violations of titles four, five and nine in the environmental section of Maryland’s law made from August 2022 through October 2023, according to a letter the department (MDE) sent on June 18 rescinding the settlement offer.
