Man Sentenced to 27-Years for Brutally Attacking 63-Year-Old Landlord Over Rent Dispute
A 31-year-old Silver Spring man was sentenced today to 27-years in prison for a near-fatal attack on his landlord in April 2020 in a home on the 9700 block of Hastings Drive. According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, the Honorable Margaret Schweitzer sentenced defendant, Geofrey Gaitan, 31, of Silver Spring, to 30 years in prison suspend all but 27 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release.

MCPD Drone Pilots Complete One-Thousand Flights
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) announced that drone pilots from the Special Operations Division have successfully completed one thousand flights since the inception of the Drone as First Responder Program in October 2023. The program began in Silver Spring in 2023, expanded to Wheaton in March 2024, and is set to launch in Bethesda and Gaithersburg soon.
