In the end, the Addison Central School District didn't have to look far for its next superintendent.

The Addison Central School District Board of Education appointed Jim Peiffer as superintendent of schools on Tuesday, officials said. Peiffer has been Addison Central School's acting/interim superintendent since January, while also serving the district as Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction since July 2021.

“I am honored, humbled and excited to continue to serve the district in collaboration with administrators, faculty, staff and our community, as we work toward fulfilling our commitment to student success,” Peiffer said.

Addison Board of Education President Marty Wheeler said the board is thankful for all stakeholders involved in making the effort a fully comprehensive search process.

“I am excited to have Peiffer accept the position of ACSD Superintendent,” Wheeler said. “He will lead our district well with his positivity, relational mindset, commitment to students and pursuit of excellence. I look forward to our future at Addison CSD.”

Before his employment with Addison, Peiffer spent eight years as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in the Penfield Central School District.

From 2008-13, Peiffer worked in the Starpoint Central School District as an assistant principal and then as principal.

Peiffer was a Coordinator for Instructional Technology Integration, Staff and Curriculum Development for Erie 1 BOCES from 2006-08, said Stacy Saglibene, GST BOCES District Superintendent. Prior to that, he was a classroom teacher in the West Seneca Central School District for seven years.

Peiffer earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Daemen College and a master’s degree in elementary education from Buffalo State College. He earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Canisius College.
