The UC Irvine students set up an encampment earlier this week on campus to protest against the ongoing devastation in the Gaza Strip. Unlike the protests at Columbia University and at UCLA, this protest has remained relatively peaceful for the time being.

The goal of this protest by the Anteater students is to have the university divest funding from businesses connected with the manufacturing of weapons that are currently being used in Israel.

This protest could potentially escalate because university officials placed a sign next to the encampment that says, "It is unlawful and violates university policy." The students that organized this encampment did not obtain a permit from the city of Irvine to lawfully protest. Not having a permit to protest falls into the "do as I say, not as I do" category of projection.

The video below of the UC Irvine encampment was taken by one of my LinkedIn connections yesterday afternoon. She was allowed to video without any issues around the entire encampment except for one female student that told her to not record video so close to the encampment. Whoever that Anteater student is, she will go down in history in this video with a "Karen" moment.
