Former Village of Dolton Deputy Police Chief Lewis Lacey was indicted on Monday by a federal grand jury for bankruptcy fraud and for perjury.

Bankruptcy claims were filed by Chief Lacey in 2019 and in 2020 in which he lied about his monthly income along with further fabricating his claims by saying that he was separated from his wife even though they are happily married. He filed these false bankruptcy claims so that he no longer had to pay back a settlement claim of $43,000 from 2017.

He should have paid that settlement by now because he has received bogus overtime pay over the past two fiscal years by Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard. This overtime pay was tied to an unnecessary 24/7 security detail for Mayor Henyard.

In an investigative report released by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Mayor Henyard has wasted $9.25 million of the village's taxpayer funds. Lacey was placed on administrative leave last week.
