Yesterday, the State of Illinois finally decided to act in some measure against the Village of Dolton after reading my previous post.

The Illinois Office of the Comptroller revealed that the Village of Dolton has not sent any audits or financial reports over the last two fiscal years. Now, Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza has gone a step further and decided to withhold taxpayer money to the Village of Dolton until this problem is resolved.

After Dolton Deputy Police Chief Lewis Lacey was reinstated as the acting chief yesterday by Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard, the Village of Dolton filed a lawsuit against Chief Lacey in regards to overtime pay.

The position of Chief of Police in Dolton is a salaried position, which means that Chief Lacey was not supposed to receive overtime during his tenure in his current position. However, he has received over $135,000 in overtime pay in the past year.

That number of $135,000 is the exact amount that Illinois Comptroller Mendoza is withholding from the Village of Dolton at this time. Coincidence?
