The Memphis Grizzlies (27-55) were ravaged by injuries all season long. Desmond Bane only played 42 games, Marcus Smart only played 20 games, and Ja Morant only played 9 games. With all of them back healthy along with three more draft picks, the Grizzlies should be one of the deepest teams in the NBA this upcoming season.

    Round 1, Pick 9: Zach Edey - C - Purdue. 7'4", 299 lbs (25.2 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 2 bpg, 62.3% FG%).

Edey improved immensely last season after leading his team to the NCAA Championship Game. He dropped to #9 in this draft because scouts have become too enamored with prioritizing 6'10" wings that have potential and athleticism, but shoot bricks all of the time. Who cares if Edey may be slower than everyone on the basketball court? He's bigger than everyone else on the court, and he's able to destroy opponents in the post.

Also, he showed that he was faster than what people believed at the NBA Combine. When Memphis thrived three seasons ago, Jaren Jackson, Jr. was at power forward. Having Jackson, Jr. playing less center whenever Edey is in the game will improve Memphis immensely.

    Round 2, Pick 9: Jaylen Wells - SG - Washington State. 6'7", 206 lbs (12.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 41.7% FG%).

Wells is a good scorer who can shoot the long ball or can drive and make a mid-range shot. He dropped into the second round because of his defense. He will not see much time until he develops on the defensive end. Plus, shooting guard is loaded at Memphis with Bane, Marcus Smart, and Luke Kennard.

    Round 2, Pick 23: Cam Spencer - SG - UConn. 6'3", 202 lbs (14.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.6 apg, 44% 3-PT FG%).

Spencer is a long-range shooter that is very accurate spotting up from the three. Spencer signed a two-way contract, so he may start in the G League because the cupboard is full at shooting guard for the Grizzlies.

Overview: Memphis pulled off three steals in this NBA Draft.

    Grade: A.
