Shelter in place for armed suspect

The Joliet Police Department issued a 'shelter in place' in the area of the 500 block of Silver Falls Street three hours ago. This area is right behind the Social Security Building on Houbolt Road.

The reason for the shelter in place is due to an armed suspect in the area. Police are investigating the area for a Black male, about 5'7" and 300 pounds with dreadlocks, wearing all black clothing.

If anyone sees this suspect walking around or apparently gasping for air due to fatigue, then do not approach the man. Call 911 immediately.
