Literacy crisis in Chicago Public Schools

From time to time in the past, I have been researching why I do not receive many views from people that live within the city of Chicago. After the Democratic National Convention ended last week, I have found the reason as to why views are lower within the city of Chicago.

Different media outlets did an exposé on the issues within the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) system. Here is what they found out.

Only one out of every four students currently in CPS can read at their current grade level. That is only 25 percent. The percentage drops to only one out of every eight students or 12.5% that go to inner-city schools.

The statistics are so drastic that nine high schools in Chicago did not have any students that were proficient in reading and in mathematics during the last school year.

Hopefully, this literacy crisis can be solved during this upcoming school year.
