New Google trial begins on 9/9

Google will be back in litigation again next Monday for the second antitrust case this year against the US Department of Justice (DOJ). The case beginning next week is in regards to the corporate tech giant overcharging clients to have ads placed on the first page of the Google search engine.

Taking advantage of customers due to the lack of competition completely falls in line with antitrust because Google was using their search engine as leverage for the higher pricing. Four out of five people prefer to use Google as their primary search engine. This type of dominance is why Google were able to price gouge clients to the tune of $100 billion per year.

In the previous antitrust ruling earlier this year, a federal judge gave the verdict that the Google search engine is in fact a monopoly last month. There are other search engines on the internet that you can use, but the ruling was based on the reality that Google is the only search engine that people use. Do you know anyone that uses Bing or DuckDuckGo as their primary search engine?

Google appealed the ruling from last month so that they do not have to break up their entire corporation into five or six separate entities at this time. Now, Google will be looking not to have to reimburse clients billions of dollars. That type of money would wipe out their quarterly revenue. Choosing to go the litigation route means that they will not have any fines assessed for many years down the road.
