Medicare Advantage Virtual Seminar on 10/3

Wellcare, the Medicare Advantage provider for the American Legion, is holding a virtual education seminar on Thursday, October 3 at 5 PM ET. The goal of this seminar is to talk about the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period and the Medicare Advantage Plan.

The open enrollment for Medicare is from October 15 to December 7. You will be able to join a new Medicare plan or to switch to a different Medicare plan.

An original Medicare plan includes Part A that covers hospital insurance and Part B that covers medical insurance. Part A does not have a premium if you have worked 10 or more years. Part B has a premium that is normally around $175 per month.

Medicare Part C and Medicare Part D are known as the Medicare Advantage plan. This plan is a supplement to Part A and Part B that covers the out-of-pocket costs. Part D covers the costs of prescription drugs. The premium for Part C can range anywhere from zero to two hundred dollars per month. The premium for Part D can range anywhere from zero dollars to eighty-one dollars per month.

This virtual presentation from Wellcare is free of charge, but you will have to register at this link before the event begins on Thursday. You will just have to enter your name and your email address to register. Then, the Zoom link will be sent to your email address.

Before you actually enroll in a plan by the deadline date of December 7, the suggestion is to wait until after the US Presidential Election. If former US President Trump is re-elected, then Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B will be abolished. Over half of US senior citizens will lose their Medicare insurance. You will then only be able to enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan.
