Best, Inc. is holding a job workshop for people with disabilities on Tuesday, October 8 from 2 PM to 3 PM CT at the Sterling Public Library. The goal for this job fair is to give disabled people a chance to gain employment in the area.

A representative from NCI Works One Stop Center - American Job Center will discuss how Goodwill Industries are seeking to hire people with disabilities through their Support Employment Program.

The program is sponsored by the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation (IDOR) so the support that will be given is free of charge. You do not have to pre-register before attending this career fair on Tuesday afternoon. The six-month program will give those who are disabled an opportunity to gain vocational training along with job employment at the end of the process.

During the six months, the on-the-job training will be 8-10 hours per week along with other activites to enhance their job development, to improve their work readiness skills, and to instruct them on how to fill out the necessary new hire forms such as W-4 and I-9 forms along with other paperwork.

Three out of every four participants in the Support Employment Program end up retaining employment with Goodwill past 120 days after enrolling. At this time, there are 20 different job openings throughout northern Illinois.

The Sterling Public Library is located at 102 W. 3rd Street.
