Behn Seeks Re-Election to House Seat

    2024-01-03

Special election winner now seeking full term in state legislature

A progressive activist who won a special election to claim a seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives has announced she's running again.

51st district Rep. Aftyn Behn has already indicated she plans to run in the 2024 election cycle for a full term in the legislature.

She won election this past summer and will be an active member of the body in the upcoming legislative session.

Behn points to her record of accomplishments since winning office as reasons voters should re-elect in the fall of 2024.

In announcing her re-election plans on her website, Behn says:

Since her swearing-in on October 4th, 2023, to finish the remaining term of Rep. Bill Beck, Aftyn has held over 100 meetings with community groups, stakeholders, and constituents to learn what issues are important to you. She’s already leading the vanguard to eliminate Tennessee’s regressive grocery tax and will be the House sponsor of the bill to reverse the most extreme abortion ban in the country. She’s listening, full of energy, and excited to show up and care loudly for the voters of House District 51!
