AFFTON, Mo. – People across the bi-state dealt with heavy rain, high winds and flooding on Tuesday. Now it’s time to clean up the aftermath.

During Tuesday’s torrential rain, the Gravois Creek in Affton rose to nearly 18 feet. That was high enough to put three to four feet of water into the Affton Athletic Association’s fields and push a small bit of water into the locker room at the nearby ice rink.

There is quite a mess there and there is a lot of cleaning up to do as things dry up.

In Jefferson County, about 23 miles southwest of Affton, a likely tornado moved between Cedar Hill and Scottsdale.

Video footage shows lots of downed trees on Byrnesville Road, northwest of Cedar Hill and Highway 30, following the heavy rain and high winds.

Deer Creek flooding proves problematic for mid-St. Louis County

The damage is down a fairly narrow path that stretches northwest to southeast, splitting the towns of Scotsdale and Cedar Hill.

The hardest-hit parts are along Byrnesville Road, Devon Lane, and out to Silver Lake, near Cedar Hill Lutheran Church.

Fox 2 didn’t come across any major structural damage, but in that path, homeowners are dealing with a lot of extra lumber that needs to be cleared.

In Affton, someone on the board of directors at the Affton Athletic Association say they were supposed to host a big tournament during the weekend.

All games are off until further notice until they figure out just how much clean-up they have to do.
