50 Cent is making major real estate moves in Shreveport, LA.

    G-Unit Studios

As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the entrepreneur opened G-Unit Studios in the city, now the second-largest Black-owned studio behind Tyler Perry. The 985,000-square-foot property is being used “to operate a production studio and/or activities and uses related to the promotion or development of the film, sound, light, movie, television, broadcasting, recording, and arts industries.”

“Founding my own studio is the next step in my plan to expand G-Unit Film & Television’s output of premium, diverse content across all media and to provide more opportunities for artists, crew members and more jobs within the community,” 50 Cent told KTAL-6 News.

    Housing Project

50 Cent’s plans for Shreveport also extend beyond his studio. He is rolling out a three-phase plan to transform the city through areas including housing.

“We start building houses, and we have an idea to go into communities and help low- to moderate-income families get mortgages,” Orville Hall, G-Unit’s growth advisor, said per another KTAL-6 report.

    Purchasing Vacant Property

What’s more, 50 Cent is furthering his interests, making multiple investments in properties that had been vacant.

“These properties that ’50 Cent’ has purchased, some of them have been vacant for years. So we’re really excited about the potential that this opens to other properties that have been vacant in downtown or underutilized,” said Downtown Development Authority Janie Landry, per KTAL-6.

Landry later mentioned, “For one thing, it shows the significance of downtown. It also shows to other potential investors the importance of downtown Shreveport. …I think overall it helps individuals that may be wanting to purchase a property in downtown Shreveport, that they can say to themselves ‘if Curtis Jackson wants to be in downtown Shreveport, then maybe I do too.'”

50 Cent has secured over 10 properties and now becomes the second-largest property owner in the city’s downtown.
