Wildcat Seniors Prepare For Final Football Season
Thirteen West Central Valley Wildcat seniors prepare for their final football season as a Wildcat. Seniors Trenton Naragon, Shawn Kent, Jordon Robinson, Tyson Partlow, Wyatt Mangano, Caiden Pote, Austin Pruitt, Jonathan McFadden, Micah Speichenger, Marshall Dickson, Zach Teague, Mason Sloss and Tyler Abbott look to guide the Wildcats beyond the first round in post season action. Last season, the Wildcats went 3-6 and fell 52-7 to the Sigourney Keota Cobras in post season action. With a scrimmage against the Madrid Tigers on August 23rd and the first official game of the season on the 30th, the Wildcats have just over a month to prepare for football action at West Central Valley.

Simpson Top 10 Sports Stories of 2023-24 School Year – #10
The Simpson softball team had their best season in years, finishing with a record of 27-13, and a semifinals appearance in the American Rivers Conference tournament. The Storm got off to a rocky start, going 5-4 in their non-conference matchup before a matchup with one of the best teams in the country in Belhaven. The Storm fell in that game, which was heated on both sides, 5-4, but it brought with it a new sense of confidence for the young squad. After the loss to Belhaven, Simpson went on to win 18-games in a row including a 6-0 start in conference. Head coach Brent Matthias said that loss led to a culture shift in the program, where the team meant more than the individual and they all have each other’s back.
Teachers train puppies to be permanent therapy dogs in schools
Students within the Perry Community School District in Iowa will have new classmates starting this fall: Kona and Sunshine Shimmer. The two puppies are currently being trained by Perry Middle School teachers to become permanent therapy dogs for the school district. They'll first need to pass a test to get a Canine Good Citizen license. That certification will allow them to be in school hallways permanently.

Incoming and current Maryville Spoofhound Golfers have had a busy summer fine tuning their game. The Spoofhound Golf Camp was July 15-19 at Mozingo.
