Walz Promises Southern MN Family “Full Investigation” Into Daughter’s Death
(Pine Island, MN) — Governor Walz is promising a southern Minnesota family a full investigation into their daughter’s death. Walz visited Pine Island yesterday to talk about state resources available to new farmers. He was asked about the charges brought against Minnesota State Trooper Shane Roper following a May crash that led to the death of Owatonna’s Olivia Flores. Walz called the crash “tragic” and said the investigation is needed to determine if policy changes are needed. Roper is facing multiple charges, including manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide.

U.S. News & World Report has released its annual list of Minnesota's Best Hospitals, and CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital is among the top hospitals in the state. CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital was given a four star rating in Patient Experience. The hospital was honored as 'High Performing' in the fields of Orthopedics and Pulmonology.

Police investigating after man shot, killed in north Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS — Investigators are looking into what led up to a shooting that left a man dead in Minneapolis on Friday morning.On Friday around 7:40 a.m., Minneapolis police say that officers responded to the 2100 block of Thomas Avenue North on reports of a person down in front of a residence. When they arrived, they saw a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.According to police, there was a ShotSpotter activation around 2:30 a.m. a short distance away at 21st Avenue North and Upton Avenue North. Officers found and secured a scene at the site, and are investigating the sequence of events that led up to the shooting.
Man sentenced in St. Paul double fatal stabbing from 2022
ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - The St. Paul man who pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing two men at a sober living house in 2022 was sentenced Friday. According to court records, Joseph Sandoval II, 34, was sentenced to 278 months with credit for 638 days already served for the first count of second-degree murder with intent. He was sentenced to 180 months for the second count of second-degree murder with intent. Sandoval is to serve the sentences consecutively, totaling 458 months, or about 38 years.
