Jason Whitten is a vol for life. Although Witten’s college career was not eye-popping numbers wise, he was a great blocker on the field and more than serviceable as a pass catcher as well. Witten had 797 yards receiving and seven touchdowns during his three years in Knoxville, before leaving to be drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

Jonesborough passes new budget with no property tax increase
The Jonesborough Board and Alderman has passed its fiscal year 2024-25 budget with no property tax increase on the first reading Wednesday. The new budget will see building permit and review fees increased due to growth in the town. Another change will see water and sewer rates increase for large commercial customers using over 5,000 gallons. The board also passed an employee compensation plan that includes raises for town employees. The new budget will now move on to it’s second reading.
Federal trial of accused child rapist Sean Williams continues
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WCYB) — The federal trial of accused child rapist Sean Williams is continuing on Thursday. In this trial, Williams is facing two escape-related charges, one for an alleged incident last July where authorities said Williams tried to escape from the Washington County Detention Center. Williams is also accused of escaping from a prisoner transport van in October. Williams was eventually captured in Florida in November.
