AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – With the ongoing inflation and economic changes, the cost of shipping packages and letters is expected to go up once again.

This Sunday, the price of a first-class Forever stamp will rise from 68 cents to 73 cents, marking the second price increase this year. Previously, there was a 2-cent increase in January. These adjustments are part of the USPS 10-year ‘Delivering for America’ plan.

A spokesperson for USPS told 22News that domestic first-class mail is down 52 percent since 2007, mostly because of digital communications and online shopping. When the price does go up it won’t affect old forever stamps.

“They are called forever stamps for a reason. They last forever so that, you know, if you want to save a couple of bucks, you can go stock up on stamps. Now, if you know you’re going to be shipping for a while in the future and you’re going to be using all those stamps,” said General manager at Agawam Pack and Ship, Vlad Tsvor.

For a First-Class Mail letter weighing 1 ounce, you can still use stamps that aren’t Forever stamps. But, you’ll have to pay additional postage for a total of 73 cents.
