AHOSKIE – The historic Gallery Theatre had its re-grand opening on Sunday, June 30.

The event showcased the talents of the Gallery Theatre Board of Directors plus multiple performances from local and neighboring talent. There were special performances by The Multiple Intelligence Band, and the theatre’s President of the Board of Directors, Latrese Carter, and Vice President Troy Fitzhugh Jr. They opened the event with a rendition of “I Love You I Do” from the award-winning Dream Girls.

The re-opening was orchestrated by The Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce (Connie Peede Poland, Executive Director), the Town of Ahoskie (Mayor Weyling White), and present and former state officials. The event was made possible through the efforts of the Gallery Theatre Executive Director, Anthony Hooper, Board Member Lucas Ireland, a host of volunteers, patrons known as “Friends of the Gallery”, and the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

The Gallery Theatre’s ‘Save A Seat’ initiative serves to preserve the historic facility. This campaign was launched on June 30 as a valid fundraiser for theatre attraction and exhibits. Details regarding the campaign can be found on The Gallery Theatre’s Facebook page. @TheGalleryTheatre / @AhoskieChamberofCommerce / @EntreCommunity
