Piedmont Natural Gas to start up new infrastructure in Ahoskie

AHOSKIE – Piedmont Natural Gas will perform routine infrastructure work Thursday, July 25, in the area of Fire Tower Road in Ahoskie.

The work is expected to occur from approximately 12 noon until sunset, barring weather events that may impact the project timetable.

These operations will include the startup of natural gas infrastructure, which will produce a loud noise lasting for several minutes and occurring several times. Nearby neighborhoods and businesses also may notice the smell of natural gas, which may linger for a period but will dissipate. These noises and smells are associated with the activation of this infrastructure and will not be part of its ongoing operation.

Piedmont Natural Gas personnel and licensed contractors will be performing all infrastructure operations. Local emergency response resources have been notified.

Piedmont officials say these activities are key to continuing Piedmont’s safe, reliable natural gas service and meeting the increased demand for natural gas.
