FedEx, a leading global express transportation company, has launched the third round of the FedEx-HBCU Student Ambassador Program. This program, initiated in 2022, is part of a five-year, $5 million pledge to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) made in 2021. The program's goal is to equip HBCU students with practical skills for the workforce through exposure to FedEx's leadership and team.

The announcement was made with the help of Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) graduate and NFL Hall of Famer, Jerry Rice, and Chanelle Houston, a graduating senior from MVSU and a participant in the program's first round. They both spoke about the benefits of attending an HBCU and the ongoing relationship between FedEx and HBCUs.

Jenny Robertson, Senior Vice President of Global Brand and Communications at FedEx, highlighted the importance of giving HBCU students opportunities beyond their college education. She mentioned that FedEx's ongoing support for HBCUs aims to nurture future leaders and provide them with more career opportunities.

The third round of the program will start this spring. Participants will take part in quarterly sessions on interview skills, resume building, and mock interviews. They will also have the chance to apply for internships and receive mentorship from FedEx leaders. The new participants were chosen from eight HBCUs, most of which are near a FedEx facility.

Every year, FedEx provides practical experiences for student ambassadors and other HBCU students from these eight institutions. These experiences include the 'Career Expose', where FedEx Ground leaders talk to students about transitioning from college to work, resume writing, and career advice. The FedEx Logistics office on the MVSU campus also offers part-time jobs for students and potential full-time employment at FedEx after graduation.
