Khwezi L. Pezisa, a computer science student from Watertown, has been named the Jefferson Community College (JCC) Honors Program student of the month for March 2024. Pezisa has created a new method for tracking athletes' statistics for his Honors Program project. The JCC Honors Program offers advanced learning opportunities for high-achieving students.

The program allows students to choose three courses to enhance as Honors Options. These projects are agreed upon by the student and a faculty member who mentors the student, aiming to provide a rewarding learning experience.

The Honors Program also includes an Honors Seminar, an interdisciplinary course exclusive to program participants. Each semester, the seminar focuses on a specific theme and features guest speakers from different fields, often including field experience.

Successful program participants receive an Honors Graduate designation on their transcript for each Honors Option course. The program is open to high-achieving high school students or those who have completed 12 college credit hours.

For more information about the Honors Program, contact Dr. Joshua Canale, the program coordinator, at jcanale@sunyjefferson.edu. In other news, Jefferson Community College will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Region III Women's Basketball Tournament from March 1-3, 2024, following the successful MSAC achievements of the 2023-2024 basketball season.
