A group of fifth graders from Attica, including Caden Morrison, Claira Deuel, Erin Murphy, and Amara Brinkman, performed well at the Region 15 Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition at Mount Morris. The team, also comprising Selena Barrios who couldn't attend, has been working on a long-term problem since October. The problem involved creating a performance about a rock band transported to an unexpected location mid-song.

The students had to figure out how the band could use music to return to their tour. They responded by writing two songs and a skit, designing instruments and scenery, creating band merchandise, and developing costumes and makeup. They also prepared for an unknown part of the competition.

Their efforts resulted in a score of 347 out of 350 at the competition. This score won them the Problem 5 Division I title and a place in the New York State Finals, scheduled for April 13 in Syracuse.

Coach Stacey Donahue commended the team's commitment, highlighting their sacrifices and after-school practice sessions. She expressed satisfaction with the team's achievements and looks forward to their performance at the state finals. The students' performance at the regional competition reflects their creativity, teamwork, and dedication.
