Feather River College (FRC) is set to host an Active Shooter Training Exercise and Simulation on Wednesday, March 20. This joint law enforcement training initiative includes a realistic training exercise. The goal is to enhance law enforcement's response to active shooter situations. FRC, despite having no known threats, is a suitable location for the exercise and is happy to support law enforcement's preparations.

On the exercise day, a road closure will be in place by the gate leading to the upper campus. FRC staff will be available to answer questions and assist with drop-offs and transportation. No vehicles, including visitor, reserved, and ADA spots, will be allowed to park beyond the gate.

The Active Shooter Simulation Training, involving CHP and Emergency Personnel, will occur between 12:45 - 4:00 pm in the Student Services buildings in the upper campus. These offices will be closed from 12:30 pm onwards. All building personnel have been informed and alternative arrangements have been made for those not volunteering.

During the exercise, many police officers will be on campus, dressed in uniform and tactical training equipment. Blanks will be used during the exercise, so students and staff should expect to hear gunshot sounds. Support will be available for those affected by the event, with students able to use the Mental Health Center and staff having access to EAP services.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is leading the training exercise. Due to constraints in their training schedule and access to materials, the exercise dates were not flexible. FRC understands the impact this will have on campus operations but also values the knowledge that staff will gain from the event. The college asks for understanding during this training. For more information, inquiries can be sent to info@frc.edu.
