Eight Gilboa FCCLA members, their adviser Ms. Fleischman, and chaperone Mrs. Ross attended the annual New York State FCCLA Conference from March 20-22. The conference hosted over 200 students from across the state, with more than 90 participating in competitive events. The students attended workshops on skills such as public speaking, edible flower making, and parliamentary procedure.

Gilboa FCCLA students, Abigail Woodcock and Jaidyn Sutton, performed well at the conference. Woodcock participated in the Thematic Table Setting event, creating a table setting for an Easter Brunch and won a gold medal. Sutton researched orthodontics and dentistry for the Career Investigation event. She also won a gold medal and will represent New York State at the FCCLA National Convention in Seattle, WA this summer.

Woodcock and Sutton, along with 10 other FCCLA members from different schools, completed their year as Junior Leaders. They were guided by former NYS officer and Gilboa alumnus Alexa Dumas.

Another Gilboa FCCLA member, Olivia Ross, finished her training as an officer-elect and was appointed as the President of the 2024-2025 New York State FCCLA Executive Council. Ross, along with council members Leon Hong (Catskill High School), Brinley Wager (Delaware Academy), and Delaney McCann (Delaware Academy), will attend the National Leadership Conference in Seattle. They will plan the 2024 Summer Leadership Conference at SUNY Oneonta and the 2025 NYS FCCLA Conference next March at the Villa Roma.

The Gilboa FCCLA chapter was recognized for completing the Community Service program. Ross also completed the National Program Power of One. These achievements have brought honor to the Gilboa Wildcats.
