Tomah Health joined over 700 healthcare professionals from Wisconsin at the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s (WHA) Advocacy Day on March 20. The event took place in Madison and featured speeches from AHA President Rick Pollack and WHA President Eric Borgerding. Governor Tony Evers and several state legislators also spoke at the event.

After the main program, representatives from Tomah Health met with state lawmakers. They discussed hospital safety and workforce shortages. Eric Prise, Tomah Health's marketing director, highlighted the importance of hospitals in community support.

The Advocacy Day also included a Health Care Quality Showcase at the Capitol Rotunda. This event recognized improvements in Wisconsin hospitals over the past year. It also allowed legislators, hospital staff, and the public to interact with the staff responsible for improved patient care. Tomah Health was one of 23 facilities featured.

Tomah Health was recognized for its commitment to quality and patient safety. It received the 2024 WHA Excellence in Health Care Quality and Patient Safety award for participating in the WHA MOVIN’ program. This program, launched at Tomah Health in May, aims to improve patient health and reduce hospital readmissions.

Jessye Buswell, Tomah Health Acute Care director, commended the WHA MOVIN’ program. She noted its positive effect on staff and patients and the opportunity it provides for preventative healthcare.
