The Public Works' Solid Waste Division has announced that Recycle Route A will be collected during the week of April 1, 2024. This route includes the area north of 3rd Ave N, Lake Kampeska, and Derby Downs. Residents should put all recyclable materials in the provided tan container for bi-weekly collection. If needed, a second recycling container can be requested on the city's website at no extra charge.

Residents should put their containers out after 5 PM the night before collection day. Collection starts at 5:00 AM, and the exact time for each area is not predetermined. Late containers will not be collected. Containers should be removed from the parkway or boulevard on the same day after collection.

Glass should not be included in the recycle container as it is not recyclable and can cause injuries. All lids should be removed and thrown away. Plastic bottles with lids take up more space in the recycling.

To improve the efficiency of plastic recycling, residents should include #1 & #2 bottles with screw on lids (pop, water, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc.). Bottles should be emptied, rinsed, and lids removed. Containers that held salad dressing, cooking oils or motor oils should not be included due to oil residue. Ice cream buckets or yogurt containers, even if stamped #1 or #2, should also not be included. Plastics coded #3, #5, and #7 are not recyclable and should be thrown away.

The Solid Waste Division of Public Works appreciates residents' support of the single stream curbside recycle program. For more information or to request a recycle container, residents can visit the Watertown website.
