Students at Front Range Community College have developed a multimedia exhibition featuring stories of local Black women. The exhibition, 'Reconstructing the Past', is a joint effort by students from history, women and gender studies, and multimedia graphic design classes. They were guided by faculty members Mary Ann Grim, Catlyn Keenan, and Lisa Myklak.

The students were grouped into teams from different disciplines. Those studying women’s sexuality and US history wrote oral histories based on interviews. These histories are part of the art installations. The graphic design students photographed the subjects, and these images are also in the exhibition.

The exhibition will open on April 15 at the college’s Boulder County Campus. It will be displayed until the end of April, then moved to the College Hill Library in Westminster for the summer. The opening event is in the Community Room at the Boulder County Campus, and admission is free.

The students involved in the project will be at the exhibitions to discuss their work. The women featured in the project, along with their families and friends, are invited to attend.

Prints of the photographs and the full oral histories will be given to the interviewees. This project provides a platform for these women's stories and a valuable learning experience for the students.
