Raphael Bostic, the President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, spoke at the University of Cincinnati Real Estate Center’s March Roundtable. The event was held on March 25 at the Westin Cincinnati. Bostic and Gary Painter, PhD, BEARE Chair and professor of real estate, had a 70-minute discussion on equitable economic development. The audience also participated in a Q&A session.

The event attracted over 300 attendees, including more than 80 real estate students. This marked the highest student attendance for a Real Estate Center event. Bostic and Painter discussed various topics, such as the Federal Reserve's balance sheet reduction strategy, social and political dynamics in the U.S., and the perceived gap between public opinion and the actual state of the economy.

The Q&A session covered topics like monetary policy's impact on the commercial real estate market, the Federal Reserve's view on digital currency, and its 2% inflation target. Other topics included comparisons between the U.S. economy and other global economies, labor participation, minimum wage, and housing prices' sensitivity to consumption.

Bostic ended his talk by encouraging the students to network and learn from the experienced professionals present. He highlighted the importance of making industry connections for career development.

The Real Estate Center’s next Roundtable event will be on April 12 at the Cooper Creek Event Center with CREW Cincinnati. The panel will include Andy Conklin, Brendon Cull, Scott Dust, and Kimm Lauterbach, discussing the future of Cincinnati and the region. Registration for the event will end on April 10 at 5 p.m.
