Grays Harbor College (GHC) has started a new admissions program with local high schools in Grays Harbor and Pacific counties. This program is designed to make it easier for high school seniors graduating in 2024 to move on to higher education. As part of this, GHC will send acceptance letters to these students, aiming to reach the entire graduating class of 2024, says Lori Christmas, GHC's director of educational partnerships and recruitment.

GHC will also hold Info Nights. At these events, potential students can learn about GHC's programs, get financial aid information, and ask questions. These will be held on May 2 at GHC’s Aberdeen campus, May 9 online, and May 15 at GHC’s Riverview Education Center in Raymond. Spanish translation will be available.

Christmas says that working with local schools and organizations helps GHC make higher education available to everyone. She believes that these partnerships can remove obstacles and create opportunities for all students.

The admissions program is one of several new partnerships GHC has started this year. Others include a job program with local autobody shops and a learning network with the Elma School District, Clover Park Technical College, the Washington State University School of Medicine, and AJAC Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeships. GHC also has programs in Hoquiam, Ocosta, and Raymond high schools to help students plan for life after graduation.

Ashley Bowie Gallegos, GHC's dean of student services and enrollment management, says the new program will make it easier for students to move on from high school. She encourages the community to tell others about the program and urges high school seniors to confirm their GHC acceptance by visiting the college's website or calling or visiting GHC in Aberdeen or Raymond.
