The Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) Foundation held its annual scholarship luncheon on March 20, 2024. The event, in Sumter, South Carolina, recognized donors and scholarship recipients for the 2023-2024 academic year. CCTC Foundation Board of Trustees Chair, Bob Edwards, thanked the donors for their support.

The luncheon included a video featuring three students: Marilyn Sein, Kenneth Farmer, and Christina Ratzke. They shared their experiences of balancing college, family, and other commitments. Sein, a Human Services student, also volunteers as a court translator and English teacher for non-English speakers.

Over its 46-year history, the CCTC Foundation has awarded over 3,500 scholarships. These scholarships, funded by various donors including civic organizations, private donors, and businesses, each serve a specific purpose.

The 2023-2024 President’s Partnership Award was presented at the luncheon. Elizabeth Lackey, the recently retired Assistant Director of Financial Aid, received the award for her 30 years of service in financial aid and dedication to students in need.

For the 2023-2024 academic year, the Foundation awarded 92 scholarships totaling $86,300. The scholarships usually range from $500 to $2,500, with most around $1,000. Recipients are urged to give back when they succeed in their careers.
