The Keokuk Community School District (KCSD) received six awards at the Iowa School Public Relations Association (ISPRA) Spring 2024 Conference on April 11 in Des Moines. KCSD won two Blue & Gold Awards for Excellence in Writing for the pieces “‘He Sought Us Out’: Former Hawkeye, NFL Player Marvin McNutt Joins Chief Nation” and “KPD School Resource Officer Continues to Provide Emergency and Mediation Support to KCSD.”

KCSD also earned four Awards of Excellence for two sports and music photography projects, a Homecoming 2023 video, and a project for new Welcome Flyers. The awards were given based on a point system, with five being the highest score for a Blue & Gold Award.

Around 20 school districts from across Iowa participated in the competition, including Burlington Community School District, Iowa City Community School District, and Ankeny Schools. The awards were categorized into three levels: the Blue & Gold Award, the Award of Excellence, and the Award of Merit, based on points.

KCSD marketing specialist, Jessica M. Martin, accepted the awards at the conference. The ISPRA, a chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) since 1960, includes public relations professionals, superintendents, principals, teachers, and others who aim to promote education.

The awards received by KCSD at the ISPRA conference highlight the district's dedication to excellence in writing, photography, and video production, as well as its efforts to promote education.
