Surry Community College (SCC) will hold its Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony at the Dobson campus gymnatorium in the P building. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 11th, with two sessions to accommodate different program groups. The first session starts at 10:00 a.m. for graduates from the Business, Engineering, and Health Sciences Programs. The second session begins at 1:00 p.m. for the Arts and Sciences, Agriculture, and Public Service Programs.

On the day before the ceremony, Friday, May 10th, mandatory practice sessions will take place. Students in the morning session must meet at 10:00 a.m., and those in the afternoon session at 1:00 p.m., both in the A Building Lobby. Graduates must also arrive an hour early on the day of the ceremony for check-in and instructions.

Graduation attire, including a cap, gown, and tassel, is available for purchase at the College Bookstore for $59.92. Graduates may personalize their caps and will receive six free invitations from the Student Services desk in the A-building.

Honor cords will be given to students with high academic achievement during check-in. Student veterans should contact Jay McDougal for their honor cords. The college advises graduates to limit guest invitations to six due to limited seating. Additional guests can watch a live stream in the Shelton-Badgett NC Center for Viticulture and Enology building. The ceremony will also be streamed online at www.surry.edu.
