The Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) is introducing its first Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP), working with the cities of Homer, Kenai, Seldovia, Seward, and Soldotna. This plan, based on the National Roadway Safety Strategy's Safe System Approach, aims to improve transportation safety by addressing human vulnerabilities and errors. It seeks to pinpoint and address the main causes of safety issues, especially in key areas.

Public workshops are scheduled to present the CSAP to residents and collect their feedback. These will be held at Homer High School Commons on May 7, 2024, the Donald E. Gilman River Center in Soldotna on May 8, and the Seward Community Library & Museum on May 9, from 5 PM to 7 PM. Each session will include a presentation at 5:30 PM.

These workshops will allow community members to meet the project team, understand the safety planning process, and share their concerns about transportation safety. Information about the project's timeline and participation methods will be available. A virtual session is also planned for those who cannot attend in person, with details to be provided later.

The KPB has created a dedicated website for the project to enhance community engagement and provide updates and educational materials about the CSAP.
