    Alfred State Celebrates Student Achievements at 40th Annual Honors Convocation

    Alfred State College recently held its 40th annual Honors Convocation, recognizing student academic achievements. The event was led by Dr. Carrie Cokely, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and included speeches from her and President Dr. Steven Mauro.

    During the ceremony, deans from the college's three schools awarded the Dean’s Awards for Academic Excellence. Recipients included Matthew Giardini and Owen Smolinski from the School of Applied Technology; Brianna Cash and Andrew Waag from the School of Architecture, Management & Engineering Technology; and Dylyn Bailey and Lauren Franey from the School of Arts and Sciences.

    Additionally, special awards were presented. Keagan Grim received the Provost’s Award for Academic Excellence from Dr. Cokely. The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence was given to Katelyn James and Colin Thompson by Dr. Gregory Sammons, Vice President for Student and Employee Affairs.

    The ceremony also featured the first Patricia K. Fogarty Former College Chair, Endowed Award, which went to Halimat Akanbi for her community service. Lilith Holmes received the Paul Buckman Memorial Award for her role as a resident assistant and involvement in campus life.
