The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will open several campgrounds along the Trinity River in California on May 3. These campgrounds, located along State Route 299, include Douglas City, Junction City, Steel Bridge, and Shasta. Each site offers amenities for camping and activities like fishing, boating, and swimming.

Jennifer Mata, manager of the BLM Redding Field Office, stated that these campgrounds provide beautiful settings and easy access to the Trinity River. They aim to connect families with nature and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no need for reservations.

The Douglas City Campground, west of Douglas City, has 23 sites for tents and trailers. Facilities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, picnic tables, and campfire rings. A nearby riverbank beach offers additional recreation opportunities. The camping fee is $20 per night per site, accommodating up to two vehicles, with a fee for additional vehicles.

To the west, near Junction City, the Junction City Campground has 21 sites for tents and trailers. The Steel Bridge Campground, about six miles east of Douglas City, offers 11 sites in a more secluded area. Both have vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings but no drinking water. The fee at these campgrounds is $15 per night.
