Wenatchee Valley College recently honored its All-Washington Academic Team in a ceremony. This recognition is part of a state-wide initiative that celebrates outstanding students who excel academically and contribute to their communities. The team, nominated by Dr. Dan Stephens, a Phi Theta Kappa adviser and biology faculty member at WVC, represents the college's diverse and high-achieving students.

At the event, KeyBank awarded each team member a $217 scholarship for their academic efforts and community involvement. Among the recipients was Tamela Browning, a graduate of the WVC Medical Assistant program. After passing the national certification exam, Browning is pursuing further education in nursing.

Maleigha Peterson, a senior at Chelan High School and a Running Start student at WVC, was also honored. She will graduate this spring with an associate in science degree and a high school diploma, having completed over 400 hours of community service. Peterson plans to study biochemistry at the University of Washington, aiming for a career in pharmaceutical sciences.

Leila Tall, another Running Start student from Cashmere, was recognized for her academic and community achievements. She is preparing to receive her high school diploma and an associate of arts and sciences-direct transfer degree from WVC. As a first-generation college student, Tall plans to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in social work at Walla Walla University this fall.
