Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals is opening a new location at Lackawanna State Park in North Abington Township. This will be their third outlet in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The new site will offer various watercraft, including paddleboards, kayaks, pedal boats, canoes, and rowboats, some with electric motors. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Lake Lackawanna.

The company started in 2007 with a shop in Falls and expanded in 2019 with a boat concession at Frances Slocum State Park in Wyoming, Luzerne County. The latest addition at Lackawanna State Park makes it the only provider of kayak rentals in Lackawanna County, increasing recreational options for both locals and tourists.

Art Coolbaugh, the owner, mentioned that the new location would benefit residents of nearby Clarks Summit and Scranton by providing closer access to water activities. The expansion meets the increasing demand for outdoor activities in the area.

The boat rental at Lackawanna State Park will open on May 24, in time for the Memorial Day weekend. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends until Labor Day. The facility will also offer supplies like bait and firewood and plans to add bicycle rentals in the future.
