Enloe Magnet High School's Subchronic Exposure team won the championship at the 2024 North Carolina Envirothon. They competed against 49 other high school teams and have now qualified for the international competition in Geneva, New York. The team received $200 in cash, a commemorative plaque, and a $500 scholarship for higher education.

The Envirothon competition tests students on environmental science topics including wildlife, forestry, aquatic ecology, soils, land use, and current issues. Wake County Commissioner Matt Calabria noted the team's third consecutive state-level win and their seventh qualification for the international Envirothon.

The team, led by captain Claire Skinner and members Angelina Li, Danica Cheaz, Iris Wang, and Saya Newton, and advised by Chad Ogren and Karen Howard, will participate in the international NCF-Envirothon from July 28 to August 3. They will compete against students from the United States, Canada, China, and Singapore.

Last year, the team placed sixth internationally, with each member earning a $1,500 college scholarship. Their consistent performance highlights their commitment to environmental issues. Other teams from Enloe High School, the Flaming Drip Torches and Benthic Dwellers, also did well, placing third and eighth respectively.
