He is the founding director of the National Center for Transportation Cybersecurity and Resiliency (TraCR) and the Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility (C2M2).     Thao Tran, an assistant professor of chemistry in the College of Science, was named Junior Researcher of the Year. Her work in quantum materials examines the link between chemistry and physical properties in new materials. Her research contributes to advancements in energy, national security, and healthcare, and supports environmental conservation and technology development.

    Tran also received the 2023 Beckman Young Investigators Award from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, making her one of only 11 recipients in the United States. She has also received the National Science Foundation’s Early CAREER Award among other honors.
