The city of Santa Clarita is preparing for its 20th Annual Bike to Work Challenge, set for May 13 to May 17, 2024. This event encourages residents to cycle to work to support environmental sustainability, health, and community connection. A special event, 'Party at a Pit Stop,' will occur on May 16 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Councilwoman Marsha McLean supports the challenge, noting its benefits such as reduced air pollution, less traffic, healthier lifestyles, and increased community bonding. The challenge aligns with Santa Clarita's commitment to improve residents' health through parks, bike lanes, and recreational programs.

The city has set up five pit stop locations offering refreshments and networking opportunities. Local businesses, including Chick-fil-A and Honu, will provide food and drinks at the City Hall pit stop to support the cyclists.

The challenge welcomes individual riders and businesses. Participants can win daily prizes like biking gear and a new 2024 Movo Zero Bicycle. Businesses can win a team lunch by having the highest participation rate. To compete, businesses must appoint a lead rider and report their participation by May 21.
