    Sharon Springs Proud: Jayna Manko and Elijah Rechnitzer Lead SSCS Class of 2024

    Sharon Springs Central School District has announced the top academic performers of its 2024 graduating class. Jayna Manko is the Valedictorian and Elijah Rechnitzer the Salutatorian. Both have excelled academically and participated actively in extracurricular activities during their school years.

    Jayna Manko, daughter of Michael and Christine Manko, has attended Sharon Springs Central School since kindergarten. She has consistently performed well academically and has been class president since eighth grade. Jayna is involved in the National Honor Society and Math Honor Society, and has competed successfully in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference.

    Jayna has also participated in sports, playing basketball and earning the title of Most Improved Player in her junior year. She volunteers at local food drives and school events. Jayna plans to study Creative Writing with a minor in Journalism at State University at Oswego.

    Elijah Rechnitzer has been a student at the school for many years and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Math Honor Society. He participates in FBLA, as well as the school's band and theater club, achieving top placements in FBLA state competitions.

    Elijah works at Brimstone Bakery and enjoys playing guitar and photography. He will pursue a degree in Chemistry at State University at Oneonta.
