Game Warden Appreciation Day took place on May 13 at Alpha One Drop Zone in Wichita, Kansas. The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), in partnership with Alpha One Drop Zone, organized this event. It provided an opportunity for the public to meet game wardens and understand their varied roles. The event started at 10 a.m. with a color presentation by the KDWPT color guard.

Throughout the day, K-9 demonstrations occurred every hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., displaying the abilities of the wardens' dogs. Attendees could visit various interactive stations, such as equipment displays and activities including Laser Shot, a 'Dunk The Warden' tank, and archery. These activities highlighted the daily tasks and equipment of game wardens.

A casting contest for children was also featured, introducing them to fishing and encouraging an interest in wildlife and outdoor activities. The event included sign-up opportunities for hunter and boating education classes, stressing the importance of safety and knowledge in these activities.

The first 500 guests received a free lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. There were also drawings for free prizes, adding to the community spirit of the day.
