The Antonyo 'Tonyo' Henderson, Sr. #12 Legacy Scholarship Fund has been created to honor Antonyo Henderson, Sr., a respected individual from Nottoway County. This scholarship supports students from Nottoway and Brunswick Counties who are pursuing higher education at Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC). It offers financial help for tuition and books, easing the financial challenges of college education.

Antonyo Henderson, also known as 'Tonyo,' was a standout athlete at Nottoway County High School. As a quarterback, he led the varsity Cougars to an undefeated season in 1998, culminating in a state championship. His performance and leadership contributed significantly to his team's success.

Following his high school achievements, Henderson attended Southside Virginia Community College, the same institution that benefits from the scholarship fund. His legacy continues to influence and support the community, especially young people seeking higher education.

I went to school with Tonyo and was a witness to that 1998 season that him, George Johnson, and Coach Joe May put together. His passing really hurt a lot of us who knew him and respected him. I'm glad to see that he will have his legacy live on in a way that he would be proud of.
