The Technical College of the Lowcountry (TCL) held its graduation ceremony on May 10, 2024, at Beaufort’s Waterfront Park. Despite earlier thunderstorms, the event ran smoothly. Around 312 students received certificates, diplomas, or associate degrees in more than 60 programs, including nursing, computer technology, culinary arts, and business administration.

During the ceremony, TCL President Dr. Richard Gough spoke about the strong foundation the college provides. He praised the graduates for their hard work and dedication to their education. Grace Beasley, the 2024 Student Speaker and a senior from Whale Branch Early College High School, also spoke. She graduated through TCL’s dual enrollment program with an Associate in Arts degree and three college certificates. Beasley plans to study law at the University of South Carolina, focusing on cybersecurity. In her speech, she encouraged her classmates to keep pursuing their passions.

Dr. Rechel Anderson, Superintendent of Jasper County School District and a published author, was the commencement speaker. With nearly two decades in education, she urged the graduates to continue learning throughout their lives and to stay curious.
